On December 15th at Strong Style Evolved, Mercedes Mone made her third successful title defence of her NJPW Strong Women’s Championship against Hazuki in the main event at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach California.

The victory will see Mone see out 2024 as the fourth Strong Women’s Champion, though we will not have to wait long to see her defend it again, as a new challenger emerged at the aformentioned Strong Style Evolved show.

Having defeated Hazuki in a near-30 minute classic, Mone was confronted by Mina Shirakawa – herself victorious earlier in the show against Johnnie Robbie – with Mone making it clear she wanted Shirakawa in a double-title match for her Strong Women’s Championship, and Shirakawa’s RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship; a match which was subsequently made official for January 5th, in the Tokyo Dome, at Wrestle Dynasty.

Of course, this announcement puts even more pressure on Shirakawa to retain her RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship against former-champion Dani Luna, who she faces in a title rematch on December 21st in York Hall, London, England. With this match outcome far from certain, the match between Mina and Mercedes Mone is currently only for the latter’s Strong Women’s Championship.

Wrestle Dynasty will air live from the Tokyo Dome for subscribers as a NJPW World PPV on January 5th.
