Pre-Show Notes

  • This match will mark Mayu Iwatani’s first ever match for Marigold after the press conference announcing her signing on 1st May.
  • This will be Nanae Takahashi’s last Korakuen Hall match, having wrestled 304 times there over the course of her career.
This match will mark the first time since 10th June 2012 that Mayu and Nanae have met in a singles match. Mayu is yet to defeat Nanae, having lost all three (including match during a Nanae gauntlet match in 2012) of their previous singles matches.
  • 2nd Marigold United National Champion Mai Sakurai has been champion for 121 days – in her first reign. This will be the fourth title defence of her reign.
  • Should Mai Sakurai defeat Misa Matsui, she will become the most successful United National Champion in history – moving ahead of the three defences of Miku Aono.
  • This will be the first time Misa Matsui’s first attempt at the United National Championship, and her fourth attempt at a singles championship in Marigold having previously failed three times to capture the Superfly Championship.
  • Mai Sakurai won the only previous singles match between the pair, which took place during the 2024 Dream Star Grand Prix on 28th September.
  • This will also be the first time Mai has defended her belt against a full-time member of the Marigold roster – previous defences are Nagisa Nozaki, Chanyota and Erina Yamanaka – a point that Misa Matsui has made it her business to highlight.
  • MIRAI is the new number one contender for the Marigold World Championship, with the match between her and Utami Hayashishita confirmed for the Shine Forever 1st Anniversary show in Yoyogi on 24th May 2025. The tag match will act as another preview to the growing intense heat between the two.
  • Seri Yamaoka has previously expressed interest in Victoria Yuzuki’s Superfly Championship, with the pair being on opposite sides during the Marigold World Championship Preview tag team match.
  • The show will also fall on the 5 year anniversary of Nao Ishikawa’s wrestling debut, where she lost to Suzu Suzuki in Ice Ribbon.
  • Following the culmination of the Marvelous and Marigold main event on 25th April, Kizuna Tanaka explained that she wanted to face Miku Aono in singles action. Aono currently holds the sole singles victory between the pair, happening during the 2024 Dream Star Grand Prix.
  • This will be the 14th time that Marigold have run Korakuen Hall, with the 1535 people drawn to their inaugural show in May 2024 remaining their highest attendance at the venue, though early reports have stated that tickets for this event have sold out. Their current average attendance at Korakuen Hall is 855, with their previous show there (25th April 2025 main-evented by the 5-on-5 Elimination Match between Marigold vs. Marvelous) drawing a house of 690.
  • Kouki Amarei will be missing from all shows due to a torn ACL. Her tentative return date is May 2025. It has been announced however that she will be doing some guest commentary during the show on the Japanese broadcast.
  • Naho Yamada will miss an undisclosed period of time through a knee injury she sustained in Shinjuku FACE on the 7th February.
  • Attendance Notes: The announced attendance inside Korakuen Hall was 1210. As well as being an incredible 75.63% increase on the previous Marigold Korakuen Hall event (690 on the 25th April main-evented by the 5-on-5 Marvelous vs. Marigold Elimination Tag Team match), this makes it the the third highest Korakuen attendance in the company’s history and only the third to reach the 1000 mark. This is the highest attendance at the venue for Marigold since the 1450 drawn to Giulia’s Arriverderci show on the 19th August 2024, with the 1535 people drawn to their inaugural show in May 2024 remaining their highest attendance at the venue.

Show Notes

  • After submitting Megaton, Chika Goto turned to Kouki Amarei on Japanese commentary and said she wanted to face her again in Yoyogi on May 24th. Kouki took to the microphone and agreed, confirming that she will return to the ring at Shine Forever. It is not yet confirmed however whether Chika and Kouki will face each other in a singles or tag capacity come Shine Forever.
  • Mai Sakurai debuted a new submission finisher to retain her championship, with the name coming to light after the match as Romanée Con Titan, with this being an apparent shoutout to CMLL’s Titan who debuted a similar move recently.
  • Following Mai Sakurai’s successful retention of the Marigold United National Championship against Misa Matsui, Shinno Omukai, daughter of former-Queen of ARSION and 3-time Twin Stars of ARSION champion Michiko Omukai made a challenge to her, asking if she could make her debut at Shine Forever against her. Sakurai accepted, and noted that Omukai is another ‘super-rookie’ and will also be the youngest – being just 16 when she debuts.
  • Shinno Omukai initially introduced herself to the Marigold fans alongside her mother at Summer Destiny back in July of 2024, with this being the first time we have seen her since.
  • During the backstage comments, Chika Goto cornered Mai Sakurai and challenged her for the United National Championship.
  • After the main event, Victoria Yuzuki entered the ring and nominated Mayu Iwatani as her next Superfly Championship challenger, eager to prove how much she has grown.
  • Following this, Miku Aono also made her way to the ring and, completely ignoring Iwatani, made the plea to be Nanae Takahashi’s final opponent at Shine Forever. The pair shook hands, though it is unclear as to whether this match has been made official as of yet.
