BITE-SIZE SHOW REPORT: Stardom New Blood 17 (Thursday, 26th December 2024)

Ami Sohrei will be absent from all cards as she begins the process of recovering from ACL and meniscus tears in her knee.
Xena has suffered a ligament injury in her knee, and will be out of action for an undisclosed period of time.
3rd New Blood Tag Team Champions DEVIL/PRINCESS (Rina (1) & Azusa Inaba (1)) have been champions for 156 days – in their first reign. This will be the third title defence of their reign.
As a team, this will be Rice or Bread’s fourth attempt at the New Blood Tag Team Championships, and second during DEVIL/PRINCESS’s reign. As individuals, it is HANAKO’s fourth attempt at the New Blood Tag Team Championships, and Waka Tsukiyama’s third.
This New Blood show marks the Stardom debuts of Himiko, Mizuki Kato & Yuma Makato.
Attendance Notes: The announced attendance for the show in Tokyo New Pier Hall was 215. This is the fourth time Stardom have run the venue, with this house being the lowest they’ve achieved (previously 225 for New Blood 13 in June of 2024). It is also now the lowest recorded house for a New Blood event – again beating out New Blood 13 – whilst also being a decrease of over 47% from the last time they were in the venue (406 for night 7 of the Goddesses of Stardom Tag League on 9th November).

Aya Sakura and Chi Chi continued their feud, with the pair also meeting in a tag team match at Evolution #29 on 27th December before their Sendai Girls Junior Championship match. On the 27th Chi Chi will team with ZONES, and Aya Sakura with Sayaka Kurura.
After 293 matches of her Stardom career, Waka Tsukiyama has claimed her very first title – after 7 previously unsuccessful attempts. This is also HANAKO’s first ever title win in the company, after 6 previously unsuccessful attempts.
