It has been common knowledge for some time that Giulia would ultimately be leaving Marigold and be joining up with the WWE. During WrestleMania week, she was featured on camera at NXT Stand & Deliver in the Wells Fargo Center, and was pictured with a ‘performer’ lanyard whilst watching WrestleMania 40.
Rumours of her start date in NXT have been in abundance, dating back as far as May, and more recently the first week in July. However, a broken wrist suffered at Marigold’s inaugural show put a kibosh on Giulia’s wrestling activity until her return at Ryogoku in an unsuccessful attempt at the Marigold World Championship against Sareee on July 13th. In the days leading up to Marigold’s July Korakuen show, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that following her tag team match with Sareee against Kizuna Tanaka and Victoria Yuzuki, Giulia would make a big announcement, with many speculating it would address the rumours of her future.
At the Korakuen Hall show on July 30th, Giulia took to the microphone after achieving her first victory in Marigold, announcing that Marigold’s next Korakuen Hall show on August 19th would be her final show with the company before leaving Japan. A clearly emotional Giulia then stated that that leaves her five matches before she leaves, with Sonny Gutierrez on commentary saying that announcements regarding these matches would be made on social media in the next couple of days.

Following the culmination of the main event, in which MIRAI and Mai Sakurai defeated Miku Aono and Natsumi Showzuki to become the inaugural Marigold Twinster champions, Sakurai called out her former-Donna Del Mondo leader with the aim of beating her in a singles match before she left. Giulia came out to the ring and suggested that the best place would be Korakuen Hall – her final show – with the match being made official shortly after.
