We may have reached the end of the Stardom Goddesses of Stardom Tag League – and with it the end of ‘tournament season’ – but that hasn’t stopped Marigold from giving us one last treat before the end of the year.
Announced via their official social media accounts, Marigold have confirmed the inaugural Twinstar Cup Tag Team Tournament for the 20th December in Sendai PIT.
A one-night knockout tournament consisting of eight teams, it is an orthodox elimination format – though the brackets have not officially been announced as of the time of writing. Each match will have a 15-minute time-limit, with a draw of any kind resulting in a double elimination.
Though many of the teams are paired up as expected, one very interesting partnership sees Kouki Amarei alongside Utami Hayashishita rather than her tWin toWers teammate Chika Goto, who instead teams with United National Champion Miku Aono. The two will actually face each other in the opening round of the tournament, adding just a little bit more fuel to the already-simmering tensions in the tWin toWers.
Also confirmed through the announcement is the in-ring return of Kizuna Tanaka, who was recently pulled from the Shinjuku FACE show on the 13th December due to a persistent back injury.
The teams and first round match-ups confirmed for the Twinstar Cup Tag Team Tournament on December 20th in Sendai PIT are as follows;
- Utami Hayashishita & Kouki Amarei vs. Miku Aono & Chika Goto
- MiraiSaku (MIRAI & Mai Sakurai) vs. Bozilla & Myla Grace
- Natsumi Showzuki & Misa Matsui vs. Nao Ishikawa & Rea Seto
- Selene Flora (Victoria Yuzuki & Kizuna Tanaka) vs. CHIAKI & Nagisa Nozaki
The show will air on WRESTLEUNIVERSE on delay on Monday 23rd December.
