Mina Shirakawa and Mariah May’s fractious relationship blew up in emphatic style during the latter’s title celebration on AEW Full Gear this past Saturday. Attempting to attack Mina from behind with a champagne bottle, Mariah ended up being speared from the ramp through a ringside table.
Following this interaction, Mariah took to Twitter to state that she ‘wanted Mina’, and would echo those sentiments in devastating style on Wednesday’s Thanksgiving Eve episode of Dynamite.

With Mina partaking in a backstage interview with Renee Paquette in which she stated that she knew the day would come when Mariah would turn on her after the way she turned on Toni Storm, Shirakawa vowed to introduce the ‘real’ Mariah May to the ‘real’ Mina Shirakawa. In response, May attacked her from behind and smashed her over the head with a bottle of champagne, grabbing Shirakawa by the hair and saying defiantly ‘I want Mina.’
May got her wish, with the match being made official for Winter is Coming on December 11th in Kansas City, Missouri for the AEW Women’s World Championship. This will be May’s sixth defence of the title, with a win putting her just one behind Timeless Toni Storm and Britt Baker in terms of successful title defences; joint third in the all-time list tied with Thunder Rosa. For Shirakawa meanwhile, this is an opportunity to avenge her loss in her one and only previous attempt at the belt; a loss to Toni Storm at 2024’s Forbidden Door PPV.
