AEW’s Grand Slam in Brisbane is now in the books, and there was an unexpected Stardom appearance following the TBS Championship match.
After Mercedes Mone successfully retained the belt against Harley Cameron to record her fourteenth successful title defence, she was shown to be holding both belts aloft as she made her way to the crowd. Sitting in the front row was H.A.T.E’s Momo Watanabe, with Mone shoving her two title belts in Watanabe’s face before sauntering away.
With this being a seeming tease to a program down the road, it’s worth nothing that Momo Watanabe has a championship opportunity of her choosing courtesy of winning the International Women’s Cup at Wrestle Dynasty back on January 5th, with many believing she would use this to challenge Athena for the Ring of Honor Women’s Championship.
If a match were to happen, it wouldn’t be the first time Momo has faced Mercedes Mone, with the pair main-eventing New Japan’s Capital Collision back in August of 2024 for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.
