Ami Sohrei will not be wrestling any time soon.
God’s Eye took a big hit on Tuesday, as Sohrei announced at the STARDOM WORLD RENDEVOUS and STARDOM WONDER RENDEVOUS press conference that she will be out of action for the foreseeable future due to having surgery on her left knee.
A spokesperson from Stardom informed us that Sohrei has actually been wrestling through the pain of an ACL injury for some time. Unfortunately, during practice last week, she then suffered a torn meniscus on top of that. With the pain of two substantial knee injuries becoming unbearable Ami, who had a noticeable limp during Tuesday’s press conference but is otherwise able to walk under her own power, opted to undergo surgery to repair the damage. Stardom President Taro Okada has subsequently announced that the company will fully support Ami during her extended absence.
Despite an injury which is expected to keep Ami out of the ring for a year, the Stardom spokesperson told us that God’s Chosen Big Girl was in great spirits, and is looking forward to more time playing video games while she rehabs her injury; more specifically Like A Dragon.
Last night, Ami Sohrei expanded upon her injury, surgery, recovery and the upcoming 5☆STAR GP:

As announced at the press conference, I'll be out of action for an extended period of time as I'll need surgery on my left knee (anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus).

As a result of the injury, it was announced by Sohrei that she will not be able to compete in the 2024 5STAR Grand Prix. She was scheduled to participate in the Blue Stars B Block. She instead announced at the presser that she has chosen fellow God’s Eye member Ranna Yagami as the person to replace her in the tournament, marking a huge spot for the rookie competitor.
This won’t be Yagami’s first chance in a tournament, as she just finished as a finalist in the Catch The Wave Tournament — losing to Honoka in the finals. For her part, Yagami told that same Stardom spokesman that she is both excited and nervous for her debut in the tournament, and despite feeling slight back tightness following her run in Catch the Wave, she’s otherwise ready to rock and roll.
The Blue Stars B Block now looks like this:
- Suzu Suzuki
- Saya Kamitani
- Hanan
- Thekla
- Saki Kashima
- Ranna Yagami

The Stardom Cast wishes Ami Sohrei the best in her recovery from injury.
