Former-AEW World Women’s Champion Toni Storm has challenged Mayu Iwatani for her IWGP Women’s Championship on the 5th October in Nagoya. If made official, it will be Mayu’s seventh title defence of her 500+ day reign with the belt.

Following Mayu and Hanan’s tag team victory over AZM and Miyu Amasaki, Storm appeared on the big screen to make it known that she will be making her first appearance in a Stardom ring since 2019.

Mayu and Toni have wrestled plenty of times before, including for the World of Stardom Championship which both women have held. However of the four singles matches they have had together, Mayu has never beaten Storm, with their record sitting at three Storm victories and one draw. This record includes the unfortunate match where Mayu dislocated her elbow a mere two minutes into the match, forcing the stoppage of the match and the putting of the belt on a very confused Storm.

Toni’s last match in Stardom was in Toyama in July of 2019, a six-woman tag team match that saw her team with Mayu Iwatani and Arisa Hoshiki in victory over Kagetsu, Natsuko Tora and Andras Miyagi.

Stardom Nagoya Golden Fight 2024 will emanate from the Aichi Dolphin’s Arena in Nagoya on the 5th October live on PPV.
