SHOW REPORT: Marigold Fantastic Adventure 2024 – Night 8 ~Afternoon Show~ (Saturday, 27th October 2024)

Notes

• Hummingbird has been withdrawn from both Shin-Kiba 1st RING shows on Saturday 27th October as a precaution after a heavy fall during her match with Natsumi Showzuki in Korakuen Hall.
• As announced at Korakuen Hall on the 24th October, Chika Goto will be absent from Marigold shows for a month as she recovers from a sternum injury. This means that her current timetable for return is the end of November.
• Attendance Notes: This is Marigold’s 8th show inside Shin-Kiba 1st RING, with the announced attendance of 215 being the lowest on record for Marigold in the venue. It is a decrease of nearly 26% from the last time they ran Shin-Kiba 1st RING (285 on the 14th September for the 3rd night of the Dream Star Grand Prix), and is a 20.7% decrease from the previous lowest reported attendance at the venue for Marigold (271 for the opening show of the Grand Opening Wars tour on the 26th May)

Undercard

Ignoring the fact that Komomo Minami tries to start the match in the wrong corner of the ring, it’s another solid performance for the rookie. Though her Into Oblivion-style DDT isn’t quite as smooth as we might usually see, she does have a beautifully smooth transition into a Single-Leg Crab. Yuzuki is just too strong for her, and after cracking two successive Superkicks into her Komomo’s face, Yuzuki finishes the match in style courtesy of a YuzuCrush. (**3/4)

Nao and Myla appear to be on the same page when it comes to their matching hairstyles here, but several bouts of miscommunication almost cost them the win. Minami Yuki continues to improve, becoming very proficient in applying her Hammerlock Guillotine, and by transitioning into her package pin, but work on her strikes does need to be the next thing I feel as they are coming across rather unnatural. Following on from her excellent reception and performance at Korakuen, Seto puts in more spirited endeavour here, but doesn’t have enough to kick out of Grace’s Michinoku Driver and Skytwister Press combination. If Naho Yamada delivers as much passion in her wrestling as she does to singing her entrance theme, I feel like we could be looking at a future star! She certainly starts hot against Tanaka, attacking immediately following the handshake before targeting the leg by wrapping it in the ropes and a Bridging Figure-Four Leg Lock. She shows a lot of promise in this match as a whole, working some really smooth reversals and transitions, even managing to weather a particularly ferocious barrage of forearms from Tanaka. She does appear to run out of steam however, and a Running Knee Strike and a Re:Dream is enough for Tanaka to pick up the victory. However, this is yet another promising match for Yamada after an impressive debut against Misa at Korakuen Hall. (***1/4)

Main Event Matches

6-Woman Tag Team Match: Kouki Amarei, Misa Matsui & Utami Hayashishita vs. Mai Sakurai, MIRAI & Natsumi Showzuki Ended in a Time Limit Draw – After the miscommunication and divides that almost led to MiraiSaku dropping the Twinstar Championships, they thankfully seem to be on completely the same page here, coming to the ring in their matching gear, with matching beaming smiles. The smile doesn’t quite reach Natsumi Showzuki, who instead embarks on a furious exchange of forearms with Misa Matsui. Eventually, this gives way to MIRAI and Utami Hayashishita, who pick up exactly where they left off from their Dream Star Grand Prix match inside Korakuen Hall. Interestingly though, it’s MIRAI once again who comes out on top, first in a big Lariat exchange, but then by locking a proctracted Stretch Muffler in order to grind down the Red Queen. Eventually however, Hayashishita gets to the ropes, and this prompts an absolutely fantastic sprint to the finish centred mainly around Kouki Amarei and Mai Sakurai. The pair begin kicking each other ferociously in the face, and this continues even after the rest of the competitors get involved. Matsui takes Mai out on the outside in an attempt to gain her side an advantage, but the playing field is then levelled again when Showzuki hits her Diving Double Knees to Kouki, followed by Sakurai hitting the Diving Elbow Drop. Still Amarei survives, as she does after she and Sakurai trade Back Suplexes. All of this culminates in a great moment where each woman plants another with a power move, the highlight being MIRAI absolutely obliterating Utami with a thunderous Lariat. Sakurai finally manages to lock a frantically-struggling Kouki in the STF, but the bell sounds before she can properly wrench back on Amarei’s neck, signalling a time-limit draw. Not content with the result, Showzuki and Matsui continue to brawl on the outside ahead of their Superfly Championship match in Hokkaido on November 2nd. (****)

Tag Team Match: Miku Aono & Nanae Takahashi def. Bozilla & CHIAKI – It turns out that there is only so long you can reject the passion, as Miku Aono finds out during her team’s entrance. Twice Nanae attempts to put her arm around Aono and coax her into joining in with the passion chants. She is rejected comprehensively on both occasions, but at the third time of asking, Miku Aono relents and throws everything into the passion chant now echoing around Shin-Kiba. To the point in fact, that it might be more passion than Nanae…In spite of the initial run of passion that sees Miku get an early advantage over CHIAKI, it’s not long before Bozilla enters the fray as the equaliser and the action moves to the outside where, of course, Bozilla and CHIAKI thrive. Once the action moves back into the ring, Bozilla continues her dominance until Miku rattles her with a kick and tags in Nanae. A meaty exchange erupts, with Nanae able to weather the Bozilla storm before hitting her and CHIAKI with Stereo Dragon Screw Leg Whips. Having submitted for the first time on Thursday in Korakuen Hall, it looks like Nanae might make Bozilla tap again by locking her in the Figure Four Leg Lock, but the German Powerhouse is able to reach the ropes. The pair trade German Suplexes before Miku re-enters to rain down thunderous kicks into Bozilla. As has been the case so many times before though, it takes only one move for Bozilla to regain control, and in this case, it’s an innovative Vertical Suplex into a Sideslam. Realising she needs to attempt to chop the giant down, Aono begins kicking at Bozilla’s shins but then gets caught with a Spinning Powerslam. This opening allows CHIAKI to come in to try and pick the bones, but Aono plants her with her impressive Stalling Spinning Powerslam and tags in Nanae. This point looks like it could be moot when Bozilla slams into the back of her with a chair, before her and CHIAKI then hit Nanae with their version of the infamous Threedom Dropkick. Her strife is them compounded when miscommunication leads to Miku accidentally levelling her with a kick, but the passion is strong in Nanae and she is able to fight back to plant CHIAKI with the Queen Bee Bomb for the win.
