Match #1 – Momo Kohgo def. Rian & Sayaka Kurura w/ Nectar Peach (4:30)
Momo attempts to enlist the help of Rian as they double team Kurura, hitting a Double Drop Toe Hold and a Double Dropkick to the Cosmic Angels. No sooner has Rian turned to high-five Momo on a job well done, Kohgo rolls her up for a two count. She attempts to apologise and they double team Kurura again, with Rian baiting Momo into a roll-up attempt this time.
The alliance well and truly dissolved, Kurura and Rian attack Momo though they instantly begin arguing with them both wanting the pinfall. Kohgo wipes them both out with a Dropkick and a Tiger Feint Kick, but is caught by a Flying Headscissors and Dropkick from Rian. The rookie connects with her Fisherman’s Buster but only gets a two count, while Kurura re-enters the fray as Momo and Rian are jostling for a Backslide to attempt her own sneaky pin.
Rian lands a Crossbody before she’s caught with a Bodyslam and Dropkick by Momo. The entire time this is happening, it looks like Sayaka Kurura is struggling in the corner, cupping her mouth with the referee repeatedly doing to check on her. In the interim, Momo hits the Nectar Peach on Rian for the victory.
Thankfully, a quick scan of Kurura’s social media doesn’t bring up any serious injury so she will hopefully be okay over the next two shows!

Match #2 – 5Star Grand Prix 2024 Red Stars B Match: Mayu Iwatani (8) def Mei Seira (6) w/ Shooting Star Reversal (10:37)
It’s a predictably yet no less impressively explosive start, with both women rocketing around the ring at an incredible speed. Once this sequence has come to an end, Mei holds out a hand as a sign of respect, which Mayu is understandably suspicious of. It’s Iwatani who uses this however and, after a series of reversed Irish Whips from the pair, she hits her Evasion Dropkick and a thumping kick into Mei’s spine. She then locks in a Camel Clutch, slapping Mei on the top of the head when she attempts to bend Mayu’s fingers in a failed escape attempt.
After trapping Mei in the ropes – following a hilarious moment where Mayu realises Mei isn’t quite tall enough to reach both sets of ropes whilst in the corner – Iwatani chops her hard across the chest and begins stomping playfully on her back on the corner. Mei looks to fight back with some forearms, but Mayu floors her with a well-placed response. Seira explodes out of the traps and hits Springboard Dropkick from the second rope, followed by a Lariat with Mayu staggered against the ropes.
Seira then locks in her inverted Figure-Four and wrenches Mayu back via her pigtails, putting an incredible amount of talk on her back in the process. Iwatani eventually makes it to the bottom rope, and is able to block a suplex attempt before throwing a huge forearm and kick to the midriff to stagger Mei. The High-Speed Champion is having none of it though, and stamps repeatedly on Mayu’s foot before hitting her with a Blockbuster and going to the top rope. Mayu joins her, and the pair begin throwing huge forearms whilst perched precariously on the top rope.
Eventually, Mayu hits the Superplex and follows this up with a Missile Dropkick. Mei gets free of a Dragon Suplex but eats a Superkick to the face, only to then send Mayu flying from the ring with a Dropkick. As Mei comes off the apron however, Mayu kicks out her legs from underneath her, causing a truly disgusting knee-first bump on the outside for Seira – made somewhat worse by the fact that Mei isn’t wearing knee pads. As Mayu comes off the ropes for her Suicide Dive however, Mei meets her with a Springboard Dropkick before then hurling her into the air with an enormous German Suplex.
It’s another disgusting landing, with Mayu landing really high on her neck, but she seems okay as she gets free of the Checkmate and almost steals a victory with a Crucifix pin. Mei then gets two equally close two counts with a roll-up and a Shooting Star, with the pair then exchanging roll-up attempts before Mayu hits the Dodonpa. Iwatani looks for the Two-Step Dragon Suplex, and then rolls through Mei’s roll through to keep her shoulders to the mat and secure the three count, achieving her fourth victory of the tournament and moving to 8 points.
Despite the loss to AZM, qualification remains in Mayu’s own hands; a victory over Tomoka Inaba in Yamagata secures her place in the quarter-finals. Mei now needs Mayu to lose against Tomoka Inaba on the final night and hope that the winless Tam can get something against Inaba later tonight; all of this of course hinging on Mei herself actually defeating Tam on the final night as well!

Match #3 – 5Star Grand Prix Red Stars A Match: Konami (6) def. Yuna Mizumori (0) w/ Triangle Armbar (6:33)
This is Konami’s final match of the tournament, and though she can reach 6 points if she beats Yuna here tonight, the loss to Natsupoi means that she is eliminated from the tournament field. Yuna is winless in her first ever 5Star Grand Prix but has impressed against every opponent.
Yuna starts hot, attacking Konami before the bell and beating her with her towel and hitting a Springboard Diving Shoulder Tackle followed by a Dropkick. Konami rolls to the outside and is then able to halt Yuna on top rope before catching her with a Draping Triangle over the top rope. She then drags Yuna to the outside and launches her into the front row of chairs, choking her with one of the chairs before running her into the ring apron.
The action moves back inside, where Konami continues to slowly take apart Mizumori, absorbing her fatigued forearms until Yuna can finally take Konami off her feet with a Dropkick. As she goes for the Lariat, Konami snatches in an Armbar before transitioning into a Triangle Armbar. Yuna is able to power up to her feet however and hits a Spinebuster, before mounting Konami and raining down forearms. She then smashes into Konami with two Lariats but as she gets her into a Fireman’s Carry, Konami locks in a Crucifix submission.
She then throws Yuna across the ring with a German Suplex, but Yuna is able to catch an attempted kick and muscle Konami into a modified suplex of her own, flooring her seconds later with a Lariat. She gets a two count with a Samoan Driver, and then hits the Tropical Smasher for what looks like the victory. Unfortunately for Yuna, the moment she attempts the pin, Konami rolls through and locks in a Triangle Armbar that leaves Yuna no option at all but to submit.
Konami finishes her tournament with a victory, while Yuna’s quest for her first 5Star points moves on to her final block match against Ruaka on the 25th August.

Match #4 – H.A.T.E (Natsuko Tora, Rina & Ruaka) def. Hina, Waka Tsukiyama & Aya Sakura w/ Pink Devil (11:31)
Ruaka and Aya start the match, with both women looking for early control of the arm. Having forced Ruaka into the ropes, Aya lands a whole host of forearms only for Ruaka to then floor her with a Shoulder Tackle and enlist the help of Rina.
Rina ragdolls Aya around the ring before kicking her repeatedly in the head whilst she’s trapped in the ropes before tagging in Tora who immediately spits water in Aya’s eyes! She continues to torture Sakura around the ring until a missed Splash in the corner allows the Cosmic Angels rookie to impressively haul Tora up into a Bodyslam. Waka tags in and briefly takes control, but Tora is able to recover from a missed Splash to hoist her into a Samoan Drop.
Eventually, Waka is able to tag out to Hina and Tora to Rina, which prompts a furious forearm exchange between the two. Ruaka enters the fray to swing things in Rina’s favour. She kisses the Diving Double Footstomp though, and Hina is able to a Spinning Urunage. Rina gets a two count with a Jakknife pin, before H.A.T.E have to intervene to stop Hina getting the pinfall with a Miscle Power Buster. The numbers game looks to pay dividends when Tora hits Hina with a Death Valley Driver and Rina follows up with a Diving Double Knee Drop and the Hydrangea, but Aya and Waka are able to break up the hold.
Hina fights free of the Pink Devil and hits a Reverse Neckbreaker but again finds herself overwhelmed by the H.A.T.E numbers game. Rina is successful with her second attempt at the Pink Devil and is able to pin Hina for the victory.

Match #5 – 5Star Grand Prix 2024 Red Stars B Match: Momo Watanabe (4) def. Saya Iida (2) w/ Peach Sunrise (11:12)
Having finally broken her 2024 5Star Grand Prix duck with a dominant victory over Tam Nakano, Momo Watanabe has the opportunity to build further momentum ahead of her NJPW Strong Women’s Championship challenge against Mercedes Mone in a week’s time in Washington DC.
We start with some mat wrestling as both women look to jockey for position. When this ends in a stalemate, Saya looks for a Greco Roman Knucklelock, only for Momo to stamp forcefully on her foot. Saya wipes her out with a Shoulder Tackle, but is then hit with a crunching Dropkick when she attempts to charge into the corner. After stalking Saya around the ring, Momo hits a Bodyslam and begins nonchalantly kicking her in the head in the ropes before kicking her forcefully in the chest.
She continues to rain kicks into the chest of Saya until the latter is able to trap Momo in the corner and unload a furious onslaught of chops. She follows this with a Double-Handed Chop and an Elbow Drop before locking in a Modified Dragon Sleeper. Once Momo gets her foot on the ropes however, the pair embark on an entertaining series of reversals and escapes, Momo avoiding Lariats by kicking out at Saya’s arm before rolling out of the way of a Momo Somato and finally connecting with a Sliding Lariat for a two count. Momo bounces back with a Spinning Urunage and a Somato, but Saya catches her on the top rope with an Avalanche Spinning Powerslam.
As both women stagger to their feet, a brutal exchange of chops and kicks ensues, with Momo seemingly coming out on top until Saya hits a Brainbuster and a Pop-Up Spinebuster. She then sends Momo cannoning across the ring with a top rope Diving Shoulder Tackle, before riskily looking to drag Momo into a Muscle Buster position. It’s unsuccessful and Momo connects with a head kick and a Diving Somato before hitting the B-Driver and locking in the Crossface Chickenwing. Saya gets free though, and levels Momo with a Lariat.
Saya comes off the ropes but is then caught with a Hidenotashi Driver before being smashed in the face with a punt kick. Saya shakes it off however and, seemingly fuelled by pure adrenaline, swings with a wild Lariat only for Momo duck under it and plant her with the Peach Sunrise. This is too much for Saya, and Momo is able to keep her down for the three count, moving her to four points as she finishes the tournament with a record of 2-4. A standout tournament for Saya is coming to an end, and she will be looking to finish on a high against AZM on the final night to gain her second win.

Match #6 – 5Star Grand Prix 2024 Red Stars B Match: Tomoka Inaba (8) def. Tam Nakano (0) w/ Ankle Lock (11:36)
It’s hardly a secret that Tam’s tournament has been brutally disappointing. However, with a Red Belt match against Tora scheduled for the 5Star Grand Prix final on 31st August, this match offers the opportunity for some much needed momentum for Nakano. However, her severely-weakened knee is something to worry about, as is the form of her opponent Tomoka Inaba, who could move level at the top of Red Stars B with 8 points ahead of her crucial final block match against Mayu.
We start with a host of reversed kicks, with Tam making first contact with a Tam Cutter and a Blockbuster, though rather worryingly she grasps at her knee even after just these two moves. She plants a kick into the chest and back of Inaba for a two count before Snapmaring her and planting another into her spine. Inaba attempts to return the favour, but Tam keeps hold of Inaba’s neck after the Snapmare and is able to transition it into another one of her own, rattling a second stinging kick into Inaba’s spine.
Tam connects with a Bicycle Knee Strike in the ropes, which sends Inaba to the apron. Inaba ends up back in the ring courtesy of another Tam kick, however a rare mistake from the Shining Stardom Dream means that Inaba catches her bad leg and hits a Dragon Screw Leg Whip through the ropes. This of course sends Tam sprawling in pain to the floor.
She eventually makes it back into the ring, where Inaba wastes no time whatsoever in hitting Tam with two consecutive Inverted Dragon Screw Leg Whips before sending her into the corner. Tam’s leg gives way before she makes it however, and she collapses in the middle of the ring. Inaba is not in a forgiving mood however, and she shoves the referee out of the way so that she can lock in a Kneebar. She is then able to throw Tam into a Snapmare and get her revenge with a kick to the spine, though Tam is able to get free of an Inaba Drop and slap her across the face. Tam continues with the tactic of slapping Inaba hard across the face but with every slap, Inaba responds with a vicious kick to the injured leg. Flooring Tam with a flurry of strikes, she connects with a PK for a two count.
It looks like Inaba may well land another kick into Nakano’s back following a Snapmare, but Tam manages to get to her feet in time to floor her with a strike and follow it up with a Violet Shooting to the back of the head. Tam fails in her attempt at a Tiger Suplex before stereo head kicks force a double down. Both women do beat the count, both connecting with kicks before Tam is able to hoist Inaba into a Bridging German Suplex. Again Tam fails with the Tiger Suplex, with Inaba able to ground her with a Drop Toe Hold and lock in a modified Ankle Lock. Eventually Tam makes it to the rope, and she is able to fight free of another Inaba Drop before flooring Inaba with a Superkick. She hauls Inaba to her feet again and attempts to run the ropes, only for leg to begin to give way and allow Inaba to plough into her with a knee to the face, and hoist her into the Inaba Drop.
Somehow, Tam kicks out and then blocks the One Hit Kill Tomoka Kick, but apparently Inaba is done playing and kicks hard at Tam’s injured leg before locking in a brutal modified Figure Four Leg Lock. Tam fights and fights but can’t get free, and once Inaba catches Tam’s free leg and is able to incorporate it into the hold, the writing is on the wall and she is forced to submit.
Inaba moves to 8 points, knowing that a victory over Mayu on the final night all but guarantees her a spot in the quarter-finals, while Tam remains rooted to the foot of Red Stars B block with a record of 0-5, with a match against Mei Seira her last chance to salvage any sort of pride from this tournament.

Match #7 – 5Star Grand Prix 2024 Red Stars A Match: Natsupoi (8) def. Manami (5) w/ Armbar (12:56)
With Hazuki and Maika facing off in tonight’s main event, a victory for Natsupoi here would send her into second place in the block. Things are a little more extreme for Manami, with victory keeping her in the tournament and moving her above Natsupoi and Hazuki into second place in the block, while a loss eliminates her with one match to go.
The first lock-up of the match sees Manami drive Poi to the ropes before rocking her with a forearm to the chest. Following this, the pair run the ropes and trade quick pinning attempts, briefly springing apart before Manami clobbers Poi with a Dropkick. They then take it in turns to throw each other across the ring with Hairmares, each taking the time to perform their signature taunt as they are doing so. Manami manages to hit a Monkey Flip out of the corner, but misses the subsequent Crossbody, which allows Natsupoi the chance to begin attacking the arm.
A Snapmare and a Dropkick to the back follow, with Natsupoi then locking in her modified Armbar/Muta Lock combination. Eventually, Manami is able to drag herself to the ropes but Natsupoi continues her onslaught on the left arm, weathering Manami’s attempts at a comeback by driving her into the corner and mockingly performing Manami’s taunt to the crowd. However, with a guttural scream, Manami surges to her feet and blitzes Natsupoi with a flurry of moves that culminate in a Dropkick and another scream.
Manami attempts to run the ropes, but is cut off by a Natsupoi Crossbody and a Cross Arm Breaker. However, Manami is able to lowbridge and send the Wonder of Stardom Champion sailing over the top rope to the apron, giving her a final Dropkick to the back to send her to the floor. She follows this with a Dropkick from the apron and the. another pair on the floor to put her firmly in control of the match for the first time. The action moves into the ring, with Manami connecting with a Missile Dropkick, but Poi is able to fight free of a Northern Lights Suplex and connect with a Blockbuster. She attempts a Jakknife, but Manami is able to reverse the momentum and get a close nearfall of her own.
Just as Natsupoi manages to roll out of the pin, Manami traps her legs and rolls her into a Boston Crab. She transitions into a Single Leg Crab as she drags Natsupoi away from one set of ropes, but can’t stop her crawling her way to the other set. Manami goes to the top rope, with Poi first trying desperately to cut her off, and then trying desperately to avoid a Powerbomb. She does avoid it, just, but ends up being hit with a Back Drop instead. Manami sets for the Four! Press! but misses, with Natsupoi hitting a Diving Crossbody instead. It looks briefly like Manami is going to be able to roll through, however Natsupoi not only kicks out of the pinfall but then immediately locks in a Double Wrist Lock.
After Manami does fight to the ropes, Poi kicks her arm but is then levelled with two consecutive Jumping Knee Strikes. She halts Manami with a Superkick before then ducking under a Lariat and tossing her across the ring with a Release German Suplex. Natsupoi looks to go for the Fairy Magic, but very nearly ends up being rolled up for the three count. Manami goes for another desperate Lariat, but Natsupoi once again avoids it and throws herself into a Cross Armbreaker. Manami fights furiously, but can’t manage to find a way to the ropes; leaving her no choice but to tap out.
With that, Natsupoi remains in contention for the quarter-finals, moving to 8 points and moving to second in the block – level on points with Maika but below her due to the tiebreaker from the opening night. Manami meanwhile is now officially out of the tournament, but has impressed a lot of people with her performances. This match here might be her best yet, and Natsupoi acknowledges this in her post-match address, making it known that she would be very interested in revisiting this match later down the line.

Match #8 – 5Star Grand Prix 2024 Red Stars A Match: Maika (10) def. Hazuki (6) w/ Michinoku Driver II (14:39)
Maika has the chance here to not only qualify for the quarter-finals, the first person to do so, but also the chance to guarantee herself the number 1 spot in the block. Hazuki meanwhile got back on track with a hard-fought win over Yuna Mizumori, and a win here would take her to the summit of the block with an incredibly important date with Natsupoi on the horizon in Yamagata!
There’s no standing on ceremony or cagey openings here, as both unload with forearms into each other before Hazuki crashes into Maika with a Dropkick. She also connects with her Facewash Kicks and the Senton to assert complete dominance over the early goings on the match, following this with a Missile Dropkick. Maika kicks out of the ensuing pinfall, but immediately finds herself locked in the Crossface, eventually dragging herself to the bottom rope.
Finally Maika manages to get a grip of the match, catching Hazuki with a Spinning Powerslam and securing a Sleeper Hold as she tries to come to terms with the explosive start made by Hazuki. She follows up with a Lariat and a Shoulder Tackle, but can’t get Hazuki up for the Vertical Suplex, with the pair once again opening up in a frantic exchange of forearms. Despite Maika garnering the upper hand once again, Hazuki is able to send her spilling from the ring with a Pump Kick before wiping her out on the floor with a Suicide Dive.
Once the action is back in the ring, Hazuki smashes into Maika with a Missile Dropkick before locking in the Crossface for a second time. Just as Maika looks like she be getting to the ropes, Hazuki rolls her back into the centre of the ring and repositions into a Rings of Saturn instead. After what feels like an age, Maika finally manages to get a foot on the ropes before halting a Hazuki Diving Senton attempt. However, Hazuki is able to simply adapt and leap over Maika’s hunched over body, connecting with a Double Footstomp to the back in the process, before hitting a Superplex. Not wanting to be outdone, Maika then hits her own Superplex before maintaining control and connecting with three more consecutive suplexes.
Slowly, both women get to their knees and begin throwing forearms once again, Hazuki able to drill Maika down to the mat by repeatedly smashing into the base of her skull. Maika is able to negate this however by crashing into her with a Spinning Lariat and landing the Enka Otoshi. She stops short of hitting the Michinoku Driver II though when Hazuki is able to counter it with a DDT. She follows up with a second rope Codebreaker and finally hits the Diving Senton, but then doesn’t go for the cover, opting instead to hit her own version of the Michinoku Driver II, which gets a two count. She can’t connect with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster, and Maika is able to float over and hit a Lariat, hoisting Hazuki into a Michinoku Driver when she charges in.
Hazuki kicks out, and then wriggles out of a second in an attempt to lock in the Hazukistral. However, this leads to Maika deadlifting Hazuki out of the Hazukistral and planting her with a second Michinoku Driver II. Again, Hazuki kicks out but she can’t survive the Wrist Clutch variation that Maika breaks out next, and this final devastating move is too much for Hazuki. Maika gets the three count to move to 10 points, maintaining the only 100% record in the tournament, and cements her place in the quarter-finals at the top of Red Stars A.
Far from frustrated at the loss, Hazuki wants to do this again with Maika. She also wants to form a trio with her fellow-Fukuoka native alongside Koguma, an offer which Maika gleefully accepts. Fukuoka Triple Crazy have apparently been born, and will compete for the first time as a trio at the November 2nd Fukuoka show!
